Marylebone is laid out on a grid of wide streets, with mews tucked in behind and garden squares such as Manchester Square, Portman Square, Bryanston Square and Montagu Square. Much of it still belongs to two old estates: the Howard de Walden Estate around Marylebone High Street and Harley Street, and the Portman Estate to the west. The homes are a mix of Georgian terraces, tall red-brick mansion blocks and modern apartment buildings, and a great many of them are flats. A fourth-floor flat in a mansion block has no garden, no space for a clothes horse that will take a king-size duvet, and usually a washer-dryer that leaves sheets creased. That is the gap we fill: duvets cleaned and dried right through, sheets pressed flat.

East of Great Portland Street, Fitzrovia is denser and more mixed. Charlotte Street and the streets around it have restaurants and offices at street level with flats above, Fitzroy Square at the northern end is lined with Georgian houses, and the BT Tower rises over the streets around Cleveland Street. Most homes here are flats, many of them compact, which is exactly where a king-size duvet has nowhere to dry and a set of sheets has nowhere to be ironed.

Many blocks have a porter or concierge, which makes the handover simple: leave the bag at the desk with your name and flat number, we count it there, and the list arrives on WhatsApp. For houses and blocks without a porter, we come to your door. Marylebone Road and Baker Street are busy main roads with few places to stop, so for homes on them we may suggest meeting at a side street or a rear entrance. On Harley Street and Wimpole Street, where clinics fill the buildings during the day, tell us which door is yours. In Fitzrovia, many flats are entered by a side door next to a shop or restaurant, so tell us where yours is. For serviced and short-let flats, we can set a fixed weekly collection day and return pressed sets bagged per bed.
